The Rebrand Florence project involves myself and several other Shoals area graphic designers. As creatives, we constantly need to improve upon and practice our skills. One fun way we are doing that is with the “Rebrand Florence” Instagram project. The Rebrand Florence project began last year on January 1st, 2014 and featured 17 local designers who posted a total of 195 Instagram posts over the course of 10 months. Each of the 17 designers had two weeks to come up with a new sample visual identity (brand) for the city of Florence. They posted pictures to Instagram throughout their entire design process.
The city of Florence, Alabama has been around since 1818 and is very rich with history. That history remains very important to the citizens here, which is something we learned during last year’s Rebrand Florence efforts. The Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area had a great looking website, with no real way for their staff to keep it updated. They hired me to build them a custom content management system that was easy for them to use, yet powerful enough to grow with them. The content management system was built using PHP, and complete training was provided.

The purpose of MVP Shoals is to serve as a support system to nonprofit organizations as well as a liaison between the agencies and community in order to enhance service involvement in the Shoals. They needed an impactful logo that conveyed the strength and importance of their mission.

The client wanted the boundary outline of Lawrence County, Alabama incorporated into the logo in some way. We took that shape, as well as an adult hand reaching up to help a child’s hand and created quite a wonderful mark for the Lawrence County CPC.
The Lawrence County Children’s Policy Council organization needed to be brought up to current times. I helped the develop a logo, as well as a simple ‘informational’ type website.
